India at its Best - 2nd ODI vs SA [Sachin - The Master Blaster Proved it again]

Hi Folks,

I hope most of you, got to hear about the ODI played against SA yesterday. Sachin created history by scoring a double century with fabulous knocks and batted like a man possessed. The SA were reduced to a mere witnessing side of his batting skills. 25 fours and 3 sixes  = 118 runs coming of just 4's & 6's.
He has batted with 4 tons in his last 4 tests and 3 of his 4 highest ODI scores in last 12 months shows how fit/skillful a player he is at the age of 36.

Dhoni's wonderful knock with 4's and 6's to amass 68 runs and Karthik's knock of 79 was not even noticed.

Can you imagine a score - 400 for 3 against SA in ODI, with Sachin/Dhoni not out at their best. Can't ask for more.

Indians won the 2nd match with 153 runs yesterday to seal the ODI series win by 2-0

a match worth watching, try catching the Highlights if you can.

6 Personality traits to admire and acquire

6 Personality traits to admire and acquire

I’ve written numerous articles and posts on difficult people, personalities and relationships: Everything from Manipulative Marys to Bullies in the workplace to people who break boundaries to toxic personalities.  Let’s face it:  In life, we come across all kinds!  As humans, we often focus on those who are negative or toxic leaving it difficult to appreciate those who are positive and healthy.  Seeking out individuals with healthy, positive traits, however, may do a lot of good.  The more we can surround ourselves with those who are positive and healthy, the more we may model those positive behaviors.

If you really think about it, once in awhile you come across a person who knocks you off your socks…legitimately.  Maybe they have a fantastic outlook on life, even during difficult times.  Maybe they are really humble, although they are extremely gifted.  Maybe they make you feel special.  All of these are good.

Below, I've listed some of the traits I admire most in people.  Although I could probably list a dozen characteristics, I thought I’d list those that seem to be the rarest or most difficult to find.

Selflessness: In a world where many people don’t have the time or the interest in others, selflessness is a quality that seems to be less and less common.  People can be selfless in the time they give, the ability to listen, their level of patience and the love that they give.  Those who are giving and generous in nature have the power to make others feel loved, appreciated and special.  While those who are self-absorbed tend to do the exact opposite.

Tolerance: Those people who are tolerant make us feel comfortable with who we are and special as individuals.  All of us are different, and many of us have quirks and idiosyncrasies.  After all, these differences make the world go round.  Having the ability to accept people for who they are and not expect them to be who we want them to be is important in life, happiness and in the health of our relationships.

Genuineness: Having the ability to be real, authentic and honest is unique in a world where we put so much emphasis on the superficial.  Feeling comfortable in one’s skin and being true to one’s self is one of the most beautiful traits one can possess.  To have a REAL relationship with someone requires honesty…it requires hearing and giving input or feedback that may not always be popular…it means having the strength to tell it like it is and to not be afraid to face the consequences for doing so…it means loving people for who they really are…deep down…and not for what they appear to be.

Sensitivity: So often we are focused on what is important to ourselves that we can forget about those around us.  Those who are sensitive are often thoughtful, appreciative and loving, in a way that makes you feel understood, valued and respected.  Often, sensitive people are also self-aware, making them mindful of how they impact others with what they do and say.

Integrity: Call me cynical, but I think this characteristic is especially difficult to find.  In a time when people will do things that are underhanded to make an extra buck (Bernie Madoff…can you hear me?), expose their personal lives to the public so they can be famous (balloon boy’s dad and any other reality TV mongers) and do what feels good in the moment without necessarily thinking of the consequences (Tiger Woods), integrity is a characteristic that is especially unique today.

Humility: Whether someone is super-smart, extremely talented or drop-dead gorgeous, there is something extra special about them if they don’t come across as though they know it all the time.  Humility in those that possess extraordinary traits make others feel special too.
Oh boy the list could go on!  What characteristics do you admire in others?  Are there any that you want to cultivate?

NUMEROLOGY TIPS FOR HOUSE HUNTING

Are you planning a move soon? Relocating? House hunting? Are you undecided about which house to choose? Let numerology be your guide. Take the full house number, no matter how many digits, and add all of the numbers together and then reduce to a one digit number.

For instance, if the house number is 33074, then you would add up and reduce that to a 17, then add and reduce again to a one digit number which in this case would be an 8.

Below is a guide of the numerological energies of the one digit numbers.

The 1 House:

This is a house where you would feel motivated. You would function as an independent person here. This is a great house for someone who lives alone. In this house, you feel comfortable in taking the lead on all things and will always have the energy to initiate all kinds of beginnings here. You definitely would be no "shrinking violet" in this abode! This house shines and the owner could collect a lot of interesting types of lamps. Just be careful that while you live here, you don’t become too aggressive or overbearing or you could lose your friends.

The 2 House:

This house has a cozy, loving vibration to it. In this house, the occupants would seek peace and a lot of togetherness. A 2 house vibrates to the energies of the moon, so psychic work could also be done under this roof. This is a house that simply nurtures all kinds of relationships, so its "tea for two" within these walls. This house would also make an ideal place for one to hold a garden party or wedding in the back yard of this house. Don’t be surprised if the occupants have a gazebo installed. The negative side to living in a 2 house; not to get too dependent on your partner - always strive to maintain a balance.

The 3 House:

This is a home that vibrates to communication and self-expression. The residents here would love to entertain frequently and would be very hospitable to their guests. A lot of creativity is abounding in these walls. This house corresponds to the planet of Jupiter, so it could also be a large house or a maybe a smaller home but one that would be slated for future expansions. On the negative side, this house could be conducive to excesses and perhaps shun the responsibilities of everyday living.

The 4 House:

This house represents security. This is a house with a strong foundation and is extremely grounded. It’s all about the earth - so make sure you surround this abode with a garden and throw in some herbs for good measure! This is also a house to choose if you want to concentrate on accomplishing a lot of work. You’ll succeed in this house. One drawback, it could be too serious and lackluster in this house - so try to incorporate some fun into it. Take time to smell those roses that are growing in that garden.

The 5 House:

This is the house of change and movement. It’s vibrant and alive! Residents here will, undoubtedly, travel a lot, or at least make many weekend getaways. The family that lives here will always revel with their five senses! This home will be filled with computers, social events and with a well stocked library. Add to that some blaring music. The noise level could be loud in this house. If its peace and serenity that you crave, this is not your house.

The 6 House:

This house is a beauty. The number 6 is associated with the planet of Venus and this house probably will always be immaculate and kept up. A 6 house is usually freshly painted and decorated with style and class. This is a house that has a family/relationship vibration to it, and it would be very conducive to raising children here. A lot of nurturing goes on in these walls and its usually filled with compassion up to the ceiling. On the down side, you may have trouble getting rid of unwanted visitors who try to outwear their welcome. The occupants of this house would also make a superb counselors or advisors as they have a natural understanding of people.

The 7 House:

A lot of contemplating goes on in this house. Unlike the 5 house, the adventure is within in the 7 house. It’s a great home to build a library and its occupants would make great armchair travelers. Sometimes this home can make one feel like a loner. If you’re married, make sure you openly express your feelings to your partner. This could be the home of the mystic . A negative might be the temptation to escape through drugs, alcohol or food. Some say a 7 house could even be haunted or attract ghosts!

The 8 House:

If you like power, money and success, this one is the pick of the litter! This is a powerful house and its occupants would make great politicians, doctors, attorneys or any high executive positions. This house will always be organized and managed smoothly. Everything will be so well-maintained at all times. Any occupants in an 8, would, undoubtedly, prosper -- just make sure you take time to stop and smell the roses like those 4 residents!

The 9 House:

This is a house of the humanitarian. This can be a selfless house where the occupants are usually off on a mission somewhere or busy functioning at charity fund raisers. This number of 9 has a connection to the past, so don’t be surprised if you get a lot of visitors or phone calls from people whom you haven’t heard from in a while. The 9 house would make a perfect house to practice feng shui. Purge all of the clutter to make room for the new energies/possessions to come in. Recycling is the theme in this house. The only drawback would be to make sure you don’t dwell in the past. Look ahead to the future and make sure you have mastered forgiveness.

Looking for the ideal house can be a monumental task, fraught with questions, concerns, worries, sometimes even sleepless nights. But you can make the job a little easier by simply remembering to count from 1 to 9. Use numbers as a guide to help you make one of the most important decisions of your life. Who knows? Maybe your dream house is just around the corner, waiting for you to count the ways for you to feel happy and homey within its walls. Numerology can make those dreams come true and set you on a true course for home.

My Trip to Bhadrachalam & Vijayawada - Oct 1st to 5th

Hi Folks,

My trip to Bhadrachalam & Vijayawada(Oct 1st to 5th,2009) was a lovely one.
By God's grace i could see the temple, the place where Rama & Sita stayed
during the last 3 years of Vanavasa, Durga temple, Bhadrachalam temple etc.

I also witnessed the krishna river in full spate which happened once in 100
yrs with 10L cusecs of water flooding from Srisilam vs Prakasham barage(at
Vijayawada). Forecasted 1 million people who have lost their homes and all
they earned till then, was shocking. About 30 odd villages indundated and
more villages in danger zone was a rather tearful episode of what has
happened. Once again, Nature proves that humans aren't full prepared to
take on the fury it unleashes.

Hope the bad days of weather subside soon.

Quotations by Gandhiji

Quotations by Gandhiji
( Book - Mohan Mala - the Gandhian rosary )

He is the greatest Democrat the world knows, for He leaves us unfettered to
make our own choice between evil and good. He is the greatest tyrant ever
known, for He often dashes the cup from our lips and under the cover of
free will leaves us a margin so wholly inadequate as to provide only mirth
(laughter) for Himself at our expense.

To me God is truth and love; God is ethics and morality; God is
fearlessness. God is the source of light and life and yet he is above and
beyond all these. God is conscience. He is even the atheism of the
atheist. For in his boundless love he permits the atheist to live.

If God was a capricious ( unpredictable & impulsive ) person instead of
being the changeless, unchangeable living law, He would in sheer
indignation wipeout those who in the name of religion deny Him and His law.

God keeps an accurate record of all things good and bad. There is no
better accountant than Him

The divine guidance often comes when the horizon is the blackest.

God is the hardest taskmaster I have known on this earth, and He tries you
through and through. And when you find your faith is failing or your body
failing you and you are sinking, He comes to your assistance somehow or
other and proves to you that you must not lose your faith and that He is
always at your beck and call, but on his terms, not on your terms.
So I have found. I cannot really recall a single instance when at the
eleventh hour, He has forsaken me.

Rajesh KVP

h1n1 virus - showing signs of mutation

HYDERABAD: The H1N1 virus, 'imported' to Hyderabad from overseas, is
showing signs of getting 'mutated' into a more virulent form. Clinical
observation of experts in the State capital indicate that the genetic make
up of H1N1 virus has 'changed' and is now more 'potent' after coming into
contact with the local existing viral forms.

This is the 'second wave' of swine flu virus, coinciding with the rainy
season, which is still active. There is a possibility of onset of a third
and more virulent form in the upcoming winter season. The virus is getting
more 'time' to stay in the atmosphere because of low temperatures, experts
opine. A pattern, among the fatalities has been detected. "Patients are
dying within 24 to 48 hours after getting infected with H1N1. The virus is
not giving any chance to the doctors to treat the patient. That's why we
are losing patients who have good immunity," said Gandhi Hospital
Superintendent E.A. Ashok Kumar.

Between May and August, when H1N1 virus was 'imported' from other
countries, it did not cause severe illness to patients. "These days, the
patient's condition is deteriorating within 24 hours. There is a definite
shift in the genetic make up of the virus. It might have genetically
changed after coming into contact with local influenza virus,"
Superintendent of Chest Hospital S.V. Prasad.

Bose - the Indian behind the Big Bang experiment

"Bose - the Indian behind the Big Bang experiment

Wed, Sep 10 05:44 PM

London, Sep 10 (IANS) Of the three main past and present physicists behind the landmark proton-smashing experiment in Geneva Wednesday, one has a Nobel Prize, the other is waiting to find out if he has one, and the third never got one.

The third man is the Bose of the Higgs-boson experiment - Satyendra Nath Bose.

It is Bose after whom the sub-atomic particle 'boson' is named - probably the only noun in the English language named after an Indian (and therefore never capitalised).

The $10 billion Large Hadron Collider experiment in Switzerland Wednesday could not have happened without Bose and Albert Einstein.

In 1924, Bose sent a paper to Einstein describing a statistical model that eventually led to the discovery of the Bose-Einstein condensate phenomenon.

The paper laid the basis for describing one of the two categories of the elementary particles that make up an atom - one was boson, and the other came to be known as fermion, after the Italian physicist Enrico Fermi.

Einstein had already won the Nobel in 1921 for services to theoretical physics and the discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect, and Fermi won it in 1938.

Decades later, in 1964, the British scientist Peter Higgs returned from a walk in the Scottish mountains to tell his colleagues that he had just experienced his 'one big idea,' which could hold a clue to how matter in the universe got its mass in the billionth of a second after the Big Bang.

Higgs eventually came up with his theory of the Higgs boson, a boson that gives mass to all other subatomic particles that happen to interact with it in a 'Higgs field'. The more they interact, the heavier they become. And the ones that don't interact don't gather mass.

The theory could not only throw further light on the creation of the universe, but also help explain the shape of it.

Wednesday's experiment at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, where protons will be smashed against each other at great speed, will be the first attempt to actually observe the Higgs boson - nicknamed the 'God particle.' So far, it is the last undetected elementary particle, also called a fundamental particle, going by the standard theory of particle physics.

Higgs, who is professor emeritus at Edinburgh University, is now widely tipped to win the Nobel, particularly if the Higgs boson is detected.

The first Nobels for physics in the 21st century went jointly to three Americans - Eric Cornell, Carl Wieman and Wolfgang Ketterle. The won it for creating the 'condensate' - a new type of matter - that Bose and Einstein had postulated.

According to Bose's grandson Falguni Sarkar, six other physicists have won the Nobel for work in the area of Bose statistics.

However, for some reason, Satyendra Nath Bose himself never won the Nobel.

Sharon Ann Holgate, a British science writer and broadcaster who made an acclaimed radio documentary on Bose for the BBC some years ago, said she had no doubt the Indian deserved a Nobel.

'I certainly do think he deserved the Nobel. When I was researching my documentary I was outraged that this man was so brilliant, yet so overlooked, perhaps because of institutionalised racism. No one gave a damn because he was an Indian,' she told IANS.

'I was really angry, and wanted to make him a bit more widely known.' Holgate added.

5 things you should know about your cell phone

5 things you should know about your cell phone

5 Things You Never Knew Your Cell Phone Could Do

For all the folks with cell phones. (This should be printed and kept in your car, purse, and wallet. Good information to have with you.)

There are a few things that can be done in time!

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST

Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for
Mobile is 112. If you find Yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an Emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to Establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly, this number 112 can be dialed even if the key pad i s locked. Try it out.

SECOND

Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote key less entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys In the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot From your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, y ou can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Editor's Note
:
It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked !  our car over a cell phone!'

THIRD

Hidden
Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys
*3370#.. Your cell phone will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell phone next time.

FOURTH

How to dis able a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following Digits on your phone:
*#06#. A 15-digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

If your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your han dset s o even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally.....

FIFTH

Free Directory Service for Cells

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 information calls when they don't have to. Most of us do not carry a telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even more of a problem. When you ne ed to use the 411 information option, simply dial:
(800)FREE411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass it on to your family and friends

Seven types of guys women can't resist

Source: http://in.news. yahoo.com/ 139/20090814/ 385/ten-women- like-to-target- men-who-are- alr.html

"
Washington, July 11 (ANI): Always wondered why some guys always manage to get the best of girls? Well, the secret is not good looks or a well-defined six pack, but the fact that women simply get attracted to certain personality traits and flock to men who possess them.

Below are seven of these "ideal types" of guys that women are drawn to, and an explanation as to why these guys are so appealing, reports Fox News.

The list could help you understand what women are looking for, and most importantly, to make sure that you fit the bill.

1. The Romantic Guy

He believes in classic romance. He is constantly bringing her flowers and chocolate and lighting candles during dinner. He calls her often to let her know he is thinking about her and looks into her eyes and tells her how he feels.

Why he is so irresistible: A woman loves to feel appreciated, and the romantic guy makes this happen. He uses romantic gestures to show her he is thinking about her. As an added bonus, she feels free to reciprocate and act on her own romantic tendencies.

2. The Confident Guy

He is totally secure and sure of himself. He is assertive in public and gives off an aura of power and control. In a relationship, he doesn't get jealous of other men; he doesn't feel threatened by his girlfriend's male friends or co-workers.

Why he is so irresistible: Women are attracted to confident men. Consider this: If you think you are great, she will probably be influenced to think the same. The confident man doesn't seek approval from women, and this makes them want him even more.

3. The Artistic Guy

The artistic guy is spontaneous and lives for the moment. Often, he will use his creativity to woo her, such as with a song he has written about her or a painting he has made for her.

Why he is so irresistible: Every woman wants to feel unique and special. There is no better way to make her feel this way than to use her as your muse or your source of inspiration. She is intrigued by the artistic guy's creative mind and especially by the way he incorporates her into his art.

4. The Foreign Guy

He comes from a faraway exotic country and he might have a cute accent or a unique way of seeing the world. His social customs and everyday behaviour can be a little quirky, but he always manages to come off as uniquely charming.

Why he is so irresistible: Women often choose this kind of guy if they are curious about the world, but most of the appeal comes down to a fascination with dating someone from another culture.

5. The Free Spirit Guy (aka the Bad Boy)

The free spirit guy goes where the wind takes him - and the wind usually takes him on some kind of wacky adventure. He might ride a motorcycle, or he might skip work to take her on a last-minute road trip, but this guy doesn't worry too much about the consequences- he just sees where his own devices take him.

Why he is so irresistible: Every woman wants a bit of a rebel. She loves his carefree attitude and hopes that it will rub off on her too. The bad boy spirit adds an element of youthfulness to the relationship and she loves to try taming him, although she knows she'll never actually succeed.

6. The Intelligent/ Witty Guy

He instigates conversations that are intellectually stimulating and listens to what she has to say in response. He makes her laugh with his clever sense of humour and has an uncanny ability to make politics interesting. He can shoot the breeze with her for hours and it will never get boring.

Why he is so irresistible: An intellectual connection is a big part of what sustains a relationship and if you can show her that you've got that, she'll be hooked pretty quickly.

7. The Considerate Guy

He holds open her car door and pulls out her chair. He foots the bill for dinner and makes sure to offer her dessert. He always asks her out with reasonable notice and picks her up at her door. He is generally sensitive to how she is feeling and when she is ready to go home.

Why he is so irresistible: Once a woman has gone through her share of the bad guy, the rude guy and the not-calling- her-back guy, she will likely re-evaluate her priorities. It takes a bit of maturity on her part to realize this, but eventually most girls come around and realize that they want a guy who will treat them well in the long run.

But, think twice before copying any of the above character types, for women can know when you are faking it. (ANI)

Newsweek says "We Are All Hindus Now"

Nevada (US), Aug.18 (ANI): "We Are All Hindus Now"-headlines the article in the upcoming edition of prestigious newsmagazine "Newsweek", saying "U.S. Views on God and Life Are Turning Hindu".

Written by its religion editor Lisa Miller, it says, "...recent poll data show that conceptually, at least, we are slowly becoming more like Hindus and less like traditional Christians in the ways we think about God, our selves, each other, and eternity."

Commenting about the Newsweek viewpoint, Rajan Zed said that community was glad that rich philosophical thought of Hinduism was being recognized and accepted widely outside the Hindu circles.

The article quotes a religion professor at Boston University who has long framed the American propensity for "the divine-deli-cafeteria religion" as "very much in the spirit of Hinduism..."

It further says: "So here is another way in which Americans are becoming more Hindu: 24 percent of Americans say they believe in reincarnation, according to a 2008 Harris poll. So agnostic are we about the ultimate fates of our bodies that we're burning them-like Hindus-after death. More than a third of Americans now choose cremation, according to the Cremation Association of North America."

The article ends with: So let us all say "om." (ANI)

Ayurveda, the traditional 'science of life', has a remedy for diseases when every other stream of medicine fails. Now, at a time when swine flu is spreading like wildfire across the world, Ayurveda has the remedy in the form of the miraculous herb, the basil leaves commonly known as Tulsi.

Tulsi, the purest and most sublime plant, has been known and worshipped in India for more than five millennia for its remarkable healing properties. Considered as an 'Elixir of Life', this wonder herb has now been claimed to keep the deadly swine flu at bay and help fast recovery in afflicted persons.

"The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body's overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu," Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

"Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body," he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

"Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach." This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu," believes Patel.

As its name suggests, Tulsi has again proved to be the 'the incomparable' medicine - this time, in the prevention and cure of swine flu.

The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with novel H1N1 flu virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting. The high risk groups for novel H1N1 flu are not known at this time, but it's possible that they may be the same as for seasonal influenza. However, Please consult a practitioner in case of any such symptoms. Doctors have strictly advised against self medication.
